In this video, viewers are shown a segment of a BBC documentary, that looks into why cats need a meat based diet to survive. It’s a fascinating topic for cat lovers, as cats always seem to turn their noses up at fruits and vegetables.
If you don’t know much about the biology of cats, you might keep trying to feed them a ‘healthy’ diet, which in your eyes consists of cabbage and lettuce. In reality, however, cats don’t need vegetables- and this BBC clip tells us why.
The video shows a black and ginger tabby cat, who is given a rabbit, and is working hard to defend it from any fellow predators surrounding it. The presenter of the show explains that the cat is so adamant about eating meat, because it’s one of the only animals in the world that absolutely needs meat to survive-
it’s a true carnivore. This is because cats don’t digest vegetables very well, and they definitely don’t get all the nutrients they need from any foods other than real and fresh meat.
