Cat Is Rescued From Vultures After Four Days of Being Stuck on a High Voltage Electricity Pole.
You’ve heard this one before: cat gets stuck in a high place, rescuing citizen becomes hero. This incident, however, is a little different.
Bill Backhall of Princent, British Columbia noticed his one-year old tabby had climbed to the top of an 18 meter high voltage power pole on Monday. He spent four days trying to coax it down.
It was a “desperate situation,” Backhall said, alluding to the increasing presence of vultures and raven flying ever0closer.
Thinking his cat had been chased up the pole by another neighborhood cat, Backhall was hamstrung; the only action he could take was placing mattresses around the base of the pole.
To make matters worse, BC Hydro did not want to intervene in the situation. The reason? The pole upon which the kitty was perched carries 138,000 volts of electricity and they required special equipment to get to the top.
